(EN) Hungarian classical guitarist Zsófia Boros, born in Prague and today residing in Vienna, Austria, studied in Bratislava, Budapest, Vienna and at the Francisco Tárrega Guitar Academy in Pordenone, Italy. She has been the recipient of numerous esteemed awards and received venerable scholarships from the Herbert von Karajan centre in Vienna as well as the Thyll foundation in Switzerland. At the Bratislava conservatory, Zsófia studied under Jozef Zsapka, to whom she owes her holistic understanding of sound and tone – a quality also noticed by Fanfare magazine, who has praised her: “clear, beautiful tone, liquid phrasing, precise layering of melody and accompaniment, fluid figuration and her emphatic sense of mood and emotion”. She has travelled internationally as part of renowned classical and jazz festival programmes as well as on solo tours, playing some of the most esteemed venues across the globe. As a recording artist, in 2012 the guitarist found a home with the Munich-based jazz and classical music label ECM Records, where she has released three albums since: En otra parte (2012), Local Objects (2016) and El último aliento (2023). On the latter, Zsófia interprets contemporary Argentinian scores and works by French composer Mathias Duplessy, with whom she maintains personal contact – an intimate rapport, which she has with many of the present-day composers whose’ music she performs.

(DE) Die ungarische Gitarristin Zsófia Boros ist heute in Wien zu Hause und studierte klassische Gitarre in Bratislava, Budapest, Wien und an der Francisco Tàrrega Gitarrenakademie in Pordenone, Italien. Sie ist mit zahlreichen internationalen Auszeichnungen ausgestattet und war Stipendiatin des Herbert von Karajan Centrums in Wien sowie der Schweizer Thyll-Stiftung. Am Konservatorium in Bratislava lernte sie bei Jozef Zsapka, dem die Gitarristin ihr tiefgehendes Verständnis für Klang und Ton verdankt – eine Stärke, die auch von der amerikanischen Musikzeitschrift Fanfare bemerkt wurde und entsprechend von ihrem: "klaren, schönen Ton, ihrer flüssigen Phrasierung, der präzisen Schichtung von Melodie und Begleitung, der fließenden Fingerbewegung und ihrem emphatischen Gefühl für Stimmung und Emotion" berichtet hat. Zsófia ist im Rahmen renommierter Klassik- und Jazzfestivals sowie mit Solotourneen auf internationalen Bühnen zu erleben und hat einige der angesehensten Konzertsäle der Welt bespielt. 2012 fand sie beim Münchner Jazz- und Klassiklabel ECM Records ein Zuhause, wo sie seither drei Alben veröffentlicht hat: En otra parte (2012), Local Objects (2016) und El último aliento (2023). Auf letzterer Aufnahme interpretiert sie zeitgenössische argentinische Werke sowie Musik von Mathias Duplessy – einem französischen Komponisten zu dem sie, wie zu vielen anderen Komponisten auch, engen persönlichen Kontakt pflegt.
